SQL Server performance tuning -- Notes from the field

-- by Linchi Shea

Join Linchi Shea for a discussion on SQL Server query performance analysis

Date:  Thursday, July 22, 2010

Time:  6:00 pm

Location: Microsoft Office, 1290 Avenue of Americas, New York, NY 10104

Why is my query slow? This is the most frequently asked question in virtually all the real-world SQL Server environments, and it is the question any SQL Server professional must be prepared to answer. The presentation does not focus on any specific product features, but is formatted as a series of SQL Server performance tuning case studies revolving around this central question. Through these real-world cases, I'll highlight some common and effective performance tuning techniques, and share with you my experience with various troubleshooting tools.

Although the presentation is anchored on my own experience, I hope to engage you in active discussions, and encourage you to share your expeience on similar cases.
